Accessibility Statement

Every effort has been made to ensure that this site has been made as accessible to as many people as possible using a range of browsers. We have implemented many features including Access Keys, resizable text, user defined layout styles and alt text for images.

This website has been built using validated XHTML and CSS. Wherever possible we have complied with all priority one, two, and in most cases, three guidelines of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.

If you should notice issues with the way the site is displayed in your browser please report layout concerns via email.

Access Keys

In most browsers you can jump to specific areas of the site by using the keyboard shortcuts called accesskeys.

If you are using Windows, press ALT + 'access key' then enter; for Macintosh users, press Control + 'access key' then enter.

Standards compliance

This site is built using valid XHTML for markup and CSS for presentation. By building for standards instead of specific web browsers less time is spent testing and working around browser bugs and quirks. Standards also mean more efficient, faster loading pages, code that is easier to maintain, centralized control of layout and design, better accessibility and many other great benefits.

Resizable Text

We have been careful to ensure that the size of the textual information on the website is not fixed so that visitors, can alter the font size on the screen, should they wish to do so. There are a number of ways to change the text size in a browser; the easiest way is to follow the following steps: (In Internet Explorer)

It is also possible to increase the size of the text by holding down the ctrl key on the bottom left hand row of the key board while using the scroll wheel on the mouse to increase (or decrease) the size of the text.

Images and Alt Tags

Where images have been used we have added 'Alt' tags - text alternatives so that you can still see what the image is meant to convey even if it doesn't load or if you have chosen to browse with the images switched off or you are using something like a screen reader to read the web page rather than view.
